SUBJECT:

How to configure five bridges to Point-to-MultiPoint mode?

QUESTION:

How can I configure the bridges to operate in a point-to-multipoint mode, i.e., we will have one bridge in the central office talking to 4 other bridges?

ANSWER:

In response to your question,

The bridge in the central office should be configured as point-to-multipoint mode because it will associate with 4 other bridges, and the other bridges should be configured as point-to-point mode because they will only associate with the bridge in the central office. The procedures are as follows:

1. To configure point-to-multipoint mode for the bridge in the central office:
- Select "Bridge Mode" tab of the bridge configuration by WMS
- Check "Point to Multipoint (PtMP)" option
- Enter those MAC addresses of 4 other bridges into Bridge 1 to Bridge 4 fields
- Press <OK> to save the setting

2. To configure point-to-point mode for the other 4 bridges:
- Select "Bridge Mode" tab of the bridge configuration by WMS
- Check "Point to Point (PtP)" option
- Enter the MAC address of the bridge in the central office into Peer Bridge MAC Address field
- Press <OK> to save the setting
- Repeat the above steps for other 3 bridges
